THE UK’s annual get-together for neighbours is coming to Portsea.

On Sunday, the John Pounds Centre has invited residents to get together at The Portsea Big Lunch and get to know their neighbours better by bringing a picnic to the event.

It will take place at the centre at 23 Queen St from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.

Admission is free and the event is open everyone.

The afternoon will include activities for families including live music, children’s activities with Boathouse4, swing jive dancing, and games.

The Big Lunch is an idea from the Eden Project aimed at helping to build stronger neighbourhoods.

In 2014, 4.83 million people took part in The Big Lunch across the UK.

The organiser Maria Mason says: ‘This is the second year I have organised The Big Lunch at the John Pounds Centre.

‘I am especially excited about this year’s lunch as we have a variety of activities that will bring neighbours of all ages, gender, and backgrounds together.’
