THE home of an amateur boxing club has reopened after a revamp.

Copnor Amateur Boxing Club was opened by professional boxer Andy Gatenby after a series of maintenance works.

The club, based at Moneyfields Sports Ground, was in a very poor state of repair when First Wessex called upon their suppliers and staff to complete maintenance works.

Steve Austin, head of property service at First Wessex, said: ‘This has been a brilliant project to work on.

‘The new boxing club will benefit the whole community.

And the club’s staff and young boxers are over the moon with the new facilities.

Tony Taylor, a coach, said: ‘The work that’s been completed at the club is fantastic and it’s going to make such a difference.’
