If you are interested in taking up art as a hobby, or picking it up again after a long break, Rowlands Castle Painting Society may hold the key.

It is for those people wishing to go on an artistic voyage of discovery.

The society was set up in 1970 with just 22 members.

There are now 130 members and we welcome new ones, regardless of ability.

The only requirement is the desire to express yourself artistically.

Help and advice is provided, usually through workshops that take place in the autumn and winter months.

The society also has life and portrait sessions on alternate Tuesday afternoons during these months which are held at the Parish Hall, Links Lane, Rowlands Castle.

Picnic and painting days out will soon be underway as the weather warms up.

Members meet every Tuesday at a predetermined venue – these can be found on the website – and are always enjoyable providing opportunities to visit places across the region.

Professional artists also give demonstrations regularly.

The membership is £25 for the year, which I think is exceptional value considering everything that is offered with it.

The Spring Exhibition has just taken place, Silver Cup Awards are to come next and at the end of the year there is a great Christmas party with food and refreshments provided.

If you are artistic and would enjoy being in the company of like-minded people, Rowlands Castle Painting Society could be for you.
