AN ARRAY of wonderful items were auctioned to raise £2,500 for school projects.

The items ranging from signed Iron Maiden produce to designer handbags were sold to the highest bidder by Cash in the Attic’s Tom Keane, in Portsmouth Irish Club, on Friday.

All profits from the event will go to the PTA of St Swithun’s School, in Southsea. Most of the money will go towards its project to refurbish the community hut in the school’s playground, and the rest will go to projects within the school.

The hut is used by many organisations, including parent and toddler groups, reading classes and music societies, but it is in desperate need of refurbishment.

Joann Robertson, the PTA’s chairwoman, said: ‘The money has made a big difference to the school already and has meant that the project can get under way.

‘They’ve started to rip out the inside now, but we still have a long way to go.’

The organisation is looking for help from local tradespeople and building firms who could donate some of their time or materials to the project. Call 07949 864050.
