GOLF captain Glynne Harris raised hundreds of pounds for an animal shelter.

The seniors captain at Lee-on-the-Solent golf club decided to adopt the RSPCA Stubbington Ark as his charity of the year for 2014, raising a grand total of £1,450.

Mr Harris helped raise this money, through a number of different events held at the golf club.

The 68-year-old, who lives in Fareham, said: ‘I chose to support this charity as it is something that means a lot to me, being an animal love.

‘Another positive of the charity is that any money which it acquires is used directly for the purpose for which it is donated.’

Stubbington Ark provides animals, who may have come in to contact with some form of neglect or cruelty, with a better standard of living and is entirely dependent on donations.

It has to raise £3,400 per day to continue.
