MEMBERS of a golf club have raised a record amount from their collection box in aid of the RNLI this year.

The Southwick Park Golf Club veterans’ section donated £1,479.61, which was put in the clubhouse collection box throughout 2011, to the Bishop’s Waltham branch of the life-saving charity. The amount is a club record.

Richard Carpenter, chairman of the Bishop’s Waltham branch, said: ‘It’s a magnificent effort by them all. Their wonderful generosity is greatly appreciated.’
