WORKSHOPS are under way to get a town ready for its annual carnival.

People have started work already on this year’s Gosport Carnival, which has an animal theme.

The team behind the summer event – Eventures Int Limited – is offering free workshops around the town, the first of which took place at the end of January. Children who went along got stuck in costume making at Brodrick Hall, in Alverstoke.

To ensure all their workshops remain free, Eventures are fundraising.

A spokeswoman from the company said: ‘It’s great to see the community get involved in even the smaller events. We plan to hold monthly family workshops as well as specialist events for adults and children with additional needs. Or quieter events for those who can accommodate us with their fanatic creative skills.’

The next takes place at Gosport Borough Football Club on the February 17 between 11am and 3pm. The event will have a sponsored penalty shoot-out and a free dance workshop.
