A man has been fined and banned from the road after being caught drink-driving.

Adrian Ashworth pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Corsa in Nesbitt Close, Gosport, while over the legal alcohol limit on December 11.

A test revealed the 35-year-old's breath contained 81 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath - more than twice the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.

Ashworth, also from Nesbitt Close, Gosport, was fined 100, ordered to pay 85 costs and 15 into a fund for victims of crime by Fareham magistrates.

He was also banned from driving for a total of one year and eight months.

Ashworth also admitted committing the offence while subject to a six-month conditional discharge for two counts of theft.

The penalty had been imposed on Ashworth by magistrates after he stole two Olay Regenerist face creams worth 59.98 from Boots in Westbury Mall, Fareham, on July 30.

Ashworth was fined a further 20 for the original offence.
