Gosport mum launches special needs support group

A MOTHER who set up her own autism support group will now run a group for all special needs children in Gosport.

Penny Vanderplank, founder of Aspiring Autism, has launched Sunflowers, a monthly stay and play group at Haven Children’s Centre, in Harris Road, Gosport.

As reported last month, Penny, who has a four-year-old autistic son, Harry, set up Aspiring Autism with four friends, after attending a course at the centre, where she works.

The new group offers support for children with special needs up to five years old and their parents or carers, with a sensory room and specialist toy library.

The first group will be at the centre on Friday, November 30 from 9.30am to 11.30am. For more dates and information, call (01329) 232 095.
