PEOPLE are being encouraged to swap unwanted items as the popular Swap Day returns to Gosport.

Gosport Borough Council’s recycling team will be holding the event on Saturday, between 10am and 1pm at St Thomas’ Church Hall, Elson.

It gives people an opportunity to clear out unwanted items that other people might like to own.

This includes household and kitchen items, toys and nursery goods, books, CDs and DVDs and garden items.

Clothing, shoes and household textiles will be set aside for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance charity to raise money.

Electrical items – working or broken – are wanted for the National Recycle Week collection.

Each person that brings an electrical item can enter the free prize draw to be in with a chance of winning some electrical gadgets.

Councillor Graham Burgess, chairman of the council’s community board, said: ‘Our recent Swap Days have been fantastic with hundreds of items finding new homes.’
