POLICE have reopened a residential street in Gosport after a man was found dead and there were reports of dangerous chemicals.
Police were called to Wych Lane at around 11am due to concern for the welfare of a man in his 50s.
On arrival, officers discovered that there were hazardous chemicals in the area and firefighters were called.
A cordon was put in place all along Wych Lane at the junction of Kent Road until 3pm when the road was reopened.
Residents were advised to stay in their homes while the street was closed.
Neil Miller, spokesman for the Hampshire police, said: ‘Hampshire fire and rescue officers entered the property where they discovered the body of a 52-year-old man.
‘His death is not being treated as suspicious. A post mortem will be carried out.’
