MORE than £500 has been donated to a music group thanks to ladies from a WI group.

The president of Gosport WI, Carolyn Kilbey, was delighted to present a cheque for £515.70 to Richard Boland – the musical director of the Elson Youth Orchestra.

Some of the children who are members of the orchestra and their teachers gave a recital to the WI members and parents at their latest meeting on Tuesday.

Gosport WI chose The Elson Youth Orchestra as their charity to support throughout 2014 with fundraising events, raffle and sales from homemade items and cakes.

The money raised by ladies of the Gosport WI will help with the annual running costs of the orchestra and the purchase of musical instruments.
