THOUSANDS of pounds has been given to sea cadets.

Warsash Sea Cadets are closer to gaining Royal Yachting Association accreditation after they received £4,000 from Fareham Borough Council’s community fund. The money will be used to buy necessary equipment for the academy to help them meet the official standards for training centres set by RYA.

Executive member for leisure, Councillor Connie Hockley, said: ‘Now the centre is RYA accredited, trainees will be able to gain official certification to accompany a range of skills.’
