Grant for work access at Chichester’s Westgate Leisure Centre
WORK has begun to increase the size of the disabled changing rooms at a swimming pool.
The latest equipment will be fitted in the dry side changing rooms of Westgate Leisure Centre, in Chichester.
It has been made possible thanks to a £20,000 grant awarded to the centre by the charity Short Breaks for Disabled Children.
The work should be completed by the end of March.
Funding has been granted towards running trampolining classes, group swimming lessons and two free family fun days for children and young adults with disabilities.
‘We are delighted that the centre has been awarded this money,’ said Councillor Eileen Lintill, responsible for leisure and wellbeing at Chichester District Council.
‘We are committed to making sure our facilities and activities are accessible to all.
‘These grants mean we can further enhance our facilities to make it even easier for those with disabilities to take part in our activities.’
