Group calls it a day with special service

Portsmouth Labour leader backs plan for four more bank holidays

Past members are being invited to a service marking the end of a Boys Brigade company this weekend.

After five successful decades the 1st Fareham Company is calling it a day because of a decline in the number of members and a lack of leaders.

And on Sunday there will be a thanksgiving service to mark the brigade's end.

John Clifford, has been involved with the movement for more than 60 years and was a former captain of the company.

Mr Clifford, 77, said: 'It's a thanksgiving service for the work that has been done over the past 50 years.

'It's a bit of an old boys reunion, a get together and to celebrate what's been achieved.

'We're hoping as many people as possible will come along and we've already had quite a good response.'

The service will take place at Fareham Baptist Church in Gosport Road, Fareham, on Sunday, from 10.30am.

Anyone interested in attending should contact Jean Clifford on (01329) 236915.
