YOUNGSTERS have clubbed together to create a fruiting hedge.

The pupils from Purbrook Infant School, in Havant, have worked with volunteers and tree wardens to make the hedge.

It comes as part of the Tree Council’s Hedgerow Harvest History project, which is backed by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Pupils at the school are working on their conservation skills and will gather food from the hedge when it develops.

Lara Jelliff is the deputy head at the school.

She said: ‘The Hedgerow Harvest History project celebrates our heritage of hedgerow foraging and Purbrook Infants was delighted to take part.’
