Portsmouth Guildhall is celebrating a momentous milestone with a series of events in August.
It will mark its 125th birthday with a whole month of fun summer holiday activities organised by the Portsmouth Cultural Trust.
Events include the return of the Funky Town Family Festival, a Vintage Car Fest, lots of sports activities and a fantastic line-up of live music and art exhibitions.
The Royal Marines School of Music will kick it all off on Saturday, August 8, with its annual concert and Beating Retreat in Guildhall Square, followed by the Funky Town Family Festival on Sunday, August.
Sports activities will take place from Monday 10 to Friday, August 14.
Activities will include giant inflatable air hockey and football, a sailing simulator, mini tennis, gymnastics, circus and everything from tap to street dance.
Another highlight will be the Vintage Car Fest and on August 22 from 10am to 4pm.
There will be live performances from the Portsmouth Schools Music Festival, a Madness tribute act, and an acoustic guitar session from Gordon Giltrap.
The Trust will be collecting memories and memorabilia as part of its I Was There digital engagement project, supported by Arts Council England, to encourage the public to send in their memories, or those of a parent or older friend, of concerts and special moments that resonate for them throughout the Guildhall’s history.
