Gun firings at Fort Nelson to mark D-Day anniversary

THEMED gun firings will mark the 73rd anniversary of D-Day.

The Royal Armouries, at Fort Nelson, will have live black powder firings from the Second World War self-propelled Sexton on June 3 and June 4.

At 11.30am, 2pm and 3pm uniformed detachments from Ubique Right of the Line will do the firings alongside the 1pm daily firing of the 25-pounder Howitzer.

There will be an opportunity for visitors to inspect the guns following the firings and the uniformed detachments will be available to answer questions about the guns.

Museum admission is free.
