PEOPLE are being invited to donate belongings at Gunwharf Quays to help fight heart disease.

The Portsmouth shopping centre is taking part in the British Heart Foundation’s biggest ever stock appeal – The Big Donation – from Saturday, September 3 to Saturday, September 17.

Visitors can bring in good quality clothing, shoes, accessories, CDs, books, toys and bric-a-brac so they can be sold in the foundation’s charity shops.

Unwanted furniture and electrical items can also be donated by calling 0844 412 5000 or visiting bhf.org.uk/bigdonation to arrange a free collection.

Peter Emery, centre director at Gunwharf Quays, said: ‘We are delighted to be hosting a big donation event.

‘Every year 250,000 people in the UK die from heart disease, which is a shocking statistic and I’m sure the people of Portsmouth will get fully behind the campaign.’

The event will launch on Saturday at 2pm when the Lord Mayor, Cllr Cheryl Buggy, will give her own bag of items.
