A MILESTONE has been achieved by fundraisers for an air ambulance charity.

Hampshire Constabulary’s driver awareness training team have managed to raise £115,000 over the last five years for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance fund.

The funds have come from having collection pots in the training rooms during the team’s courses.

The team, which sits within the joint operations unit with Thames Valley Police, have also donated an iPad for the air ambulance to use as a raffle prize.

Bob Nicholas, one of the team’s senior trainers, said: ‘We are often shocked by the generosity of those who come on our driver awareness courses.

‘It has been staggering, when we first started I do not think any of us expected to collect as much as we have.

‘I think one of the trainers suggested it originally and I think we all expected that we would get a bit but not a lot but we have been absolutely bowled over by the generosity people have shown by what they have donated in our pots.’
