Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service was today due to announce the details of its latest staff review.

Fire Brigades Union bosses fear at least seven full-time control room workers will be made redundant as the service shrinks its staff by 40 posts over four years.

Paul Trew, secretary for the Fire Brigades Union, said: ‘The fire service in Hampshire has been funded for the next two years, so the question we are asking is why this is happening?

‘We have been working with the service to try and work around the cuts, but we will not accept even a single redundancy of a full-time fire fighter.’ Hampshire Fire and Rescue refused to comment.
