PEOPLE are being advised to wear wellies at one of the biggest annual events in Havant.

Hampshire Water Festival is taking place all this weekend at Staunton Country Park with a bumper line-up of activities and events.

Organiser Lulu Bowerman, from Emsworth, said: ‘Other events have cancelled this weekend but we are going to be there in all weathers and mud conditions.

‘Advice to visitors is to wear your wellies. It’s muddy but it’s a water festival!

‘We will do our best to make sure that all activities and entertainment continue as normal when possible.

‘Sunday is looking fine at the moment which means the evening concert and fireworks will have the perfect setting.’

The free event features 15 Olympic sports for people to try out, including rowing, volleyball, hockey and gymnastics.

Pond-dipping and fishing sessions will be on offer all weekend, as well as ‘water walking’ on the lake today.

The evening concert will feature Highbury Area Band, an opera singer and girl band The Three Belles.

There will be more than 50 food and drink stalls. Doors will open from 10am to 5pm today and from 10am until late tomorrow.
