FIREFIGHTERS swapped engines for rowing machines as they attempted to cover the distance of the England Channel and back.

Craig Sadler and Duncan Warwood, from Havant Fire Station and Waterlooville Fire Station respectively, rowed the 42 miles for charity in front of friends and family.

Craig said: ‘All the money raised will be donated to two charities close to our hearts.

‘We raised £702 and it took us about four-and-a-half hours but I am so glad that we did it.

‘It was good and something different and the support was amazing.

‘It was humbling really with the amount of support we got.’

The money will be split between Football For Cancer and The Fire Fighters Charity.
