FIREFIGHTERS are preparing to make a splash at their charity car wash.

Crews from Havant will be in the car park of Tesco, in Havant, on Sunday ready to hose down cars in a bid to raise cash for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The event is taking place as thousands of firefighters up and down the country get ready to do the same for National Car Wash this September.

Crews in Havant and in Andover are the first in the country to hold their event.

The National Car Wash is the charity’s largest national fundraising event of the year.

Andy Bowers, area manager of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: ‘Monies raised through national fundraising initiatives provide a real boost to The Fire Fighters Charity.

‘As well as being a fun and popular event for the charity, the National Car Wash also gives our
firefighters the opportunity to share important safety messages with members of their local community.

‘We are delighted that so many of our fire stations are getting involved and would urge local people to come along and support the day.

‘Your valued donations will go towards helping thousands of men, women and children from the fire and rescue community during their times of need.’

The event take place from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
