The Christmas lights have been switched on in Havant.

As darkness fell last night, Havant town centre was bathed in light for the Christmas lights switch-on, which followed a Christingle service at St Faith’s Church.

Dozens of families gathered for the countdown.

Mum-of-one and heavily pregnant Katie Ostrowski, 31, who recently moved to Havant from Florida, USA, said: ‘This is the start of the holiday spirit and a chance to experience some of the British traditions.’

Nathalie Adams, 39, enjoyed seeing the spectacle with children, Shaun, 10, and Chloe, 11.

Chloe said: ‘I like Christmas lights and seeing them go on.’ Shaun added: ‘It makes Havant look a bit brighter.’
