A FOUR-part close harmony choir is inviting residents to listen in on a rehearsal in the spirit of Voluntary Arts Week later this month.

Spirit of the South, a female Barbershop chorus whose members meet at Park Community School in Leigh Park, promises to entertain visitors with classic Barbershop tunes in the school’s main hall from 8pm until 9.15pm on May 15.

Jackie Stanley, from the group, said: ‘Those interested in coming along can listen to us rehearse, hear how the harmonies are put together and join in the ‘warm-up’ exercises.

‘They can also learn to sing a Tag – the last few bars of a song that are particularly harmonic and a lot of fun to sing.’
