SOMERSET band The Mangledwurzels belted out an appropriate soundtrack to the medal giving ceremony of Hayling Scarecrow Festival.
More than 400 people packed out Eastoke Plaza, in Hayling, yesterday afternoon to hear who had won gold, silver and bronze in each of the four Olympic themed categories.
To mark what will be the last festival for a few years the winners got cash prizes of £100, £75 and £50 for their efforts.
Marie Telford who organises the festival as part of the Hayling Market Town Initiative, said: ‘Over the past six years we have seen more than 1,000 entries and an estimated 15,000 people have taken the Scarecrow Trail.
‘Once again this year the standard of entries was very high bringing a lot of pleasure to a lot of people.’
The Hayling Scarecrow Festival continues for another week until August 12 with trail sheets on sale at shops across the Island.
Anyone can vote for the People’s Choice Award by using the ballot forms in the Trail Sheets and they can also enter their completed Trail Sheets into a Prize Draw.
