HAYLING Island’s Lily Sugars pub has raised more than £1,700 for a children’s disability charity.

The pub, in Creek Road, pulled in the amount for Wish Em Well after holding two days of fundraising activities in August.

Punters were treated to a fancy dress evening and games based on television show Play Your Cards Right.

Winstones Boxing Gym held a 24 hour treadmill run for the cause. Barmaid Kara Parry, 26, said: ‘We’re delighted by how much money was raised. It was a real community effort.’
