WITH the Olympics just around the corner, people are being reminded to make sure they give blood.

NHS Blood and Transplant said blood donations dropped by three per cent during the two weeks of Wimbledon and is encouraging people to donate.

John Canning, lead donor relations manager, said: ‘Blood has a limited shelf life of 35 days for red blood cells and just seven days for platelets. It’s vital both existing and new blood donors come forward now.’
