THE 12th Annual Diabetes Patient conference is to be held in Portsmouth later this month.

Local Diabetes UK voluntary groups and the Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust will host it at St James’ Hospital in Locksway Road, Milton.

President of charity Diabetes UK, Richard Lane, will be the guest speaker.

The meeting will look at how to tackle the challenges of diabetes-related footcare issues in Portsmouth after the charity launched its Putting Feet First campaign earlier this year.

And people will also get the chance to find out more about the condition and how to manage it.

Chairman of the Portsmouth diabetes support group, Christine Edwards, said: ‘It’s a pleasure that the president is taking part this year.

‘The conference is always relevant and helps to reduce patients’ anxieties and gain a better understanding of their condition.’

The conference is on Thursday, October 25 and costs £3.50 to attend, including refreshments and lunch.

Prebooking is essential as space is limited.
