A TREATMENT centre in Portsmouth is backing an awareness week on antibiotics.

St Mary’s Treatment Centre, in Milton, will be using this week to raise awareness on when antibiotics should be used.

Minor injury unit assistant practitioner Amy O’Keeffe said: ‘We want to educate visitors on what will help them get better, and that does not necessarily include antibiotics.’

As well as a waiting room display of posters and facts explaining how the inappropriate and overuse of antibiotics leads to bacteria becoming resistant, there will also be quizzes and activities for patients.
