A HOSPICE is launching its own reading club-style incentive to encourage people to pick up a book and raise money for charity.

The Rowans Readers launch is due to take place tomorrow at the hospice’s charity bookshop in Marmion Road, Southsea.

The event, which starts at 1pm, will include an opportunity to meet and chat with author Dee Williams.

She will be signing copies of her books The Flower Girls and Lights out till Dawn.

Rowans Readers is a loyalty scheme for regular readers to enjoy 10 per cent discount on purchases made at the bookshop on the first of each month.

A summer fashion show is also taking place this evening. Featured outfits will include clothes donated to the hospice, and will be modelled by staff and volunteers.

The clothes will be available to buy after the show, and a raffle will also take place.

Sue Carre, manager of The Rowans Hospice shops in Southsea, said: ‘We are really looking forward to our two special events at our shops in Marmion Road and hope lots of people come along to support us.

‘We have a range of brand new and carefully selected donated items at recession-beating prices to suit all tastes. The fashion show held at our shop in Wickham last year was a great success and was really well supported.

‘We hope the community will enjoy both of these events.’
