WITH the festive season upon us, a plea is being made to make sure people continue donating blood.

NHS Blood and Transplant is asking people to think of hospital patients who rely on blood transfusions during December.

Jonathan Sewell, lead donor relations manager, said: ‘The arctic conditions last winter presented severe challenges for supplies, yet blood donors made heroic efforts to reach sessions.’

Sessions take place on:

· Monday, December 5, St James Hospital, Locksway Road, Milton, from 10.30am to 1pm and 2.30pm to 5pm.

· Tuesday, December 6, St Swithun’s Church, Waverley Road, Southsea, from 1.30pm to 3.25pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

· Wednesday, December 7, Wickham Community Centre, Mill Lane, Wickham, from 1.30pm to 3.25pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

· Thursday, December 8, Portsmouth Football Club, Fratton Way, from 1.30pm to 3.25pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
