PARTICIPANTS in the Great South Run have helped raise more than £170,000 for Diabetes UK.

The charity was in a three-year partnership with Bupa UK, the company which, until this year, sponsored the 10-mile race.

Jill Steaton said: ‘Thanks to Bupa UK and our partnership, we have reached 14,300 people at risk of Type 2 diabetes in the south east and helped people to reduce their risk of devastating complications such as blindness, amputation and stroke.

‘We would like to say an enormous thank you to Bupa UK for their support which has made this fantastic work possible.’
