THE chief executive of the trust that provides mental health and community services to the Portsmouth area is moving on.

Dr Ros Tolcher will be leaving her post at Solent NHS Trust to take up a new role as chief executive at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust in Yorkshire – where she grew up.

Dr Tolcher said: ‘Yorkshire is my home county and I have long planned to move back when the right time came.

‘I am immensely proud of all that has been achieved within Solent and will be moving on with a degree of sadness.

‘However, I am very confident that we will attract a strong field of potential successors to my role and that the trust will continue to thrive.

‘We are making immediate plans to recruit the position.’

Dr Tolcher has worked in and around Portsmouth and Southampton since she trained in 1985.

She began her career as a consultant in sexual health and later became clinical director of sexual health services in Southampton.
