Portsmouth dad to cycle 100 miles for blind daughter

OLD kettles, mobile phones and other unwanted electrical items can be handed in to a recycling centre.

June 17 to 23, is National Recycle Week, and Portsmouth City Council is asking people to bring in their items.

Councillor Eleanor Scott, cabinet member for environment, said: ‘It’s a great way to clear out your house, while helping the environment.’

Small household items with a plug or batteries, carried by one person are welcome.

Larger items such as washing machines or televisions cannot be brought along.

Collection points are at all city libraries, and Southsea Community Centre, in King Street, Southsea, Paulsgrove Community Centre, in Marsden Road, Paulsgrove, and John Pounds Centre, in Queen Street, Portsea.

A roadshow will visit the following areas from 10.30am:

June 17, Palmerston Road, Southsea.

June 19, Cosham High Street, Cosham.

June 20, Cascades shopping centre.
