CARERS can get a free mini-health check at a coffee morning.

The NHS Health Checks team will be at the event at the Carers Centre, in Orchard Road, Southsea, on Saturday, September 6, from 10am to 2pm.

Amanda McKenzie, health checks service manager at Portsmouth City Council, said: ‘Carers may often disregard their own health because they’re so busy looking after someone else.

‘We think it’s important to help them to take care of themselves and the coffee morning will provide a welcome retreat for carers.’

The health check takes around 15 minutes, and carers aged between 40 and 74 and don’t have a pre-existing condition will be offered a voucher for a free full NHS Health Check.
