Lindsey Gates, 40, had a brain seizure last month and was rushed to hospital, where she was diagnosed with cancer in her brain.

It has been a horrendous few years for the Emsworth mum-of-two, who battled breast cancer in 2010 and was given the five-year all-clear only to contract breast cancer again shortly later.

Her friend, Angel Oliver, launched a fundraising page to send Lindsey, her husband Jason Gates, and two children, Charlie, 14, and Brook, six, on the holiday of a lifetime to Disney World, Florida. Since launching the page a fortnight ago, there have been more than 160 donations, totalling more than £3,000.

Angel’s target is £10,000.

Angel, a market trader, of Main Road, Nutbourne, near Emsworth, said: ‘I’m so sad.

‘She has two beautiful little girls. It’s devastating.

‘She wants to take the children away to Disney World, but we don’t know how long she’s got.

‘They have given her anything between three months and three years.

‘We are trying to raise the money as fast as we can before she gets too poorly.’

Angel added: ‘It would mean the world to her.

‘They haven’t been away on holiday for a long time.

‘The memories they would create together, her children can cherish that for the rest of their lives.’

Lindsey, who lives in Greville Green, said: ‘I have been overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity.

‘Most of the people who have donated, I don’t even know.’

She added: ‘To see the children’s faces and make memories with them, it’s something that the children can tell their children and say “This is our mum and this is what we did”.’

Hayley Cooper donated and wrote on the fundraising page: ‘May all your wishes come true.’
