FRIENDS and family of young dad Liam McKay, who died from a sudden heart condition, held a successful fundraiser in Horndean.

They gathered at The Colonial Bar, in Portsmouth Road, yesterday for the day, which raised money for his five-year-old daughter Lexie.

Liam, of Puffin Walk, Wecock, died from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome, a condition where the heart suddenly stops.

The day featured a bouncy castle, live music, a rodeo, face painting and fairground rides, and was organised by close friend Katie Parratt.

She hopes to hit a fundraising target of between £2,500 – £3,000 from the event.

She said: ‘We’ve held the day to send Lexie to Flordia and secure her future.

‘It’s my way of showing my appreciation of knowing Liam. He was such a lovely person and was always there for me.

‘I’d like to thank Liam’s mum Dawn Bennett for her help in organising the event, Chardanelle Inflatables and SB Catering, who have helped take the stress away.’
