The pair were both at last year’s awards when Tony’s salon won Salon of the Year.

Tony said: ‘We were excited as we won Salon of the Year.

‘It’s been totally amazing for us this year and for our clients. Salon of the year is the one award that every salon wants to win.’

Lee has also won many awards including being named Most Influential Hairdresser of the Year in 2002.

He launched his own product range in 2001 and has gone from strength to strength, becoming a household name.

Lee, who was at last year’s awards with his model partner Jessica-Jane Clement, whom he married in February 2013, said: ‘I was blown away by it.

‘It felt like the British Hairdressing Awards. There was a lot of excitement there, a massive turnout and a really amazing atmosphere in the room.’

Lee said he will not be at this year’s awards as his wife is expecting a baby around the same time, but he has been really impressed by the standard of this year’s entries.

He also said he was so impressed with the set-up, he was considering launching a similar awards in Essex.

He added: ‘I love the awards. They are so important for so many reasons.’

Winners of the 13 categories at The News’ Hair and Beauty Awards will be announced at the ceremony, which takes place at the Portsmouth Guildhall on Saturday, July 5.
