WOMEN are being encouraged to take part in a netball ‘festival’ to try out a fun way of staying healthy.
The Back to Netball Festival is being run by Portsmouth City Council and England Netball.
The free event is for women aged 16 years old and over and teams of between seven and 12 can enter.
Matt Birch, sports officer at the city council, said: ‘We know how important physical activity is in staying healthy, but it’s much easier to be active when you find something fun to do, especially if it involves your friends as well.
‘The festival has this at its heart and is about rediscovering the game while having a good laugh.
‘It doesn’t matter when you last played, or if you’ve ever played, as it’s not being run competitively.
‘A free one-hour coaching session is available before.’
It is in Bransbury Park in Eastney on Wednesday, September 9, from 6pm. Deadline for entry is by 4pm on Friday, September 4. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (023) 9284 1193.
