Charity calls for Portsmouth women to do Race for Life

WOMEN are being encouraged to sign up for a Cancer Research UK's Race for Life.

For this Mother’s Day, the charity is calling on mums and daughters to join thousands of other women expected to take part in the 5km, 10km or Pretty Muddy races.

The races are on Southsea Common on July 8 and July 9.

Jenny Ainsworth, Hampshire event manager for the charity, said: ‘We are urging mums and daughters in Portsmouth to make this Mother’s Day extra special by signing up to Race for Life.

‘It’s the perfect opportunity to spend quality time together, create precious memories and join like-minded women determined to beat cancer sooner.

‘Race for Life events are non-competitive and participants can choose to walk, jog or run around the course.

‘Every day, 130 people are diagnosed with cancer in the south east. That’s why we’re calling on women in Portsmouth to sign up to Race for Life right now. Together, we can stop this devastating disease in its tracks.’
