NURSERY children have been awarded for leading healthy lives.

Youngsters at the Little Admirals Pre-School in Dundas Lane, Portsmouth, have been taking part in the Healthy Pompey Pre-School Challenge.

The children have been learning all about eating healthily, keeping active and growing their own fruit and veg.

They have been given certificates for their efforts during an awards ceremony at their pre-school, where they also got to meet Healthy Harvey – the city’s healthy living mascot.

Rachel Hatcher, Healthy Pompey programme manager, said: ‘It’s great to be awarding more of the city’s pre-schools.

‘The children who attend are among hundreds from 67 different venues which are demonstrating their commitment to healthy living by taking part in the challenge.’

The pre-school challenge is part of the Healthy Pompey programme to tackle obesity in the city.

It provides a wide range of activities, equipment, support and information for pre-school children, nursery staff and children’s parents.
