A MAN diagnosed with leukaemia has organised a fundraising event for two charities.

Paul Wingate, 44, was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer – hairy cell leukaemia – earlier this year and became involved with charity fundraising during his treatment.

He has organised the Concert for Cancer event at The Groundlings Theatre, in Kent Street, Portsea.

It includes live music, a comedy show and a meal, with proceeds going to Delete Blood Cancer UK and Teenage Cancer Trust.

Paul, from Bordon, said: ‘It’s an absolute privilege to be able to be here and put together what is going to be such an amazing concert for cancer in aid of two amazing cancer charities.

‘As a leukaemia sufferer myself, I know how much we need to find cures for this horrible disease and that people can help by registering as a potential blood stem cell donor.’

The show takes place tomorrow. To buy tickets call (023) 9273 7370.
