HAMPSHIRE County Council will wait for its new chief executive to decide whether the post of director of public health will be filled.

It comes after the current director Ruth Milton handed in her notice, and will move to Public Health England.

A council spokesman said: ‘The director of public health has offered her resignation with effect from November 30, and is taking a new job with Public Health England.

‘No decision will be taken on the future of the role until after the new chief executive takes office on November 1.’
