PORTSMOUTH’S Lord Mayor has signed up to become a dementia friend and is encouraging others to follow.

Next week is Dementia Awareness Week and Councillor Lynne Stagg signed up at Trafalgar Court, Richmond Road, Southsea.

Being a friend means people promote awareness of and improve attitudes towards dementia. A roadshow is taking place next week and stops off in the following places:

n Monday, May 19 – Commercial Road, Portsmouth

n Tuesday, May 20 – John Pounds Centre, Portsmouth, and Meridian Centre, Havant.

n Wednesday, May 21 – Palmerston Road, Southsea.

n Thursday, May 22 – Meridian Centre, Havant, and Portsmouth College.

n Friday, May 23 – Cascades shopping centre in Portsmouth and Portsmouth College.
