A CHARITY is holding a series of information events on dementia.

The Alzeimer’s Society has organised the sessions for Dementia Awareness Week, which started yesterday.

Volunteers from the charity will be at the events to give out information on dementia as well as raise awareness about what they do.

The sessions are on:

n Tomorrow from 1pm until 2.30pm at The Link, Cosham Baptist Church. It will offer cream teas with tickets costing £2.50 in advance.

n Thursday from 10am until 4pm at John Pounds Centre, in Portsmouth. There is the Dementia Miles Challenge or the chance to become a dementia friend.

n Friday from 10am until 4pm at The Fountain, in Commercial Road, Portsmouth. Information will be available.

Lucie Debenham, services manager, said: ‘We’d love to see as many people as possible join us at these events.

‘By openly talking about dementia we hope to tackle the many myths and misunderstandings about the condition and get across that life doesn’t end when dementia begins.’
