WITH Father’s Day fast approaching, the stereotype is that of an idyllic relationship between father and child.

But, for many, the reality can be very different.

It is situations like this that can bring on depression and anxiety for some men.

Such mental health conditions are the focus of a free telephone-based therapy service called iTalk.

The scheme has been pioneered by mental health charity, Solent Mind, and Southern Health, an NHS Foundation Trust.

This year Men’s Health Week, which ends on Sunday, focuses on mental health issues.

Di Kitson, from Solent Mind, said: ‘Just a third of referrals to our service are from men and this is something we are keen to increase.’

Anyone aged 16 or over, who is registered with a GP
in Fareham, Gosport or Havant, can self-refer by calling the service on (023) 8038 3920 or online via italk.org.uk
