Hospitals trusts fail waiting times for bowel cancer tests

THE chairman of a health board has been awarded an OBE for his services.

Dr Geoffrey Harris, chairman of the Board of NHS South of England, was given the title to recognise his work in healthcare.

Dr Harris said: ‘I was very surprised and delighted to receive this honour.

‘It has been immensely rewarding to contribute towards the running of the NHS, which is often challenging but always interesting.’

A former medical research scientist, Dr Harris has worked for Wellcome Foundation, HM Diplomatic Service, and as director of the British Overseas Trade Group for Israel.

The NHS South of England chief executive Sir Ian Carruthers said: ‘We are absolutely delighted Dr Harris has been recognised for his considerable and outstanding contribution to the NHS.’
