NEW and existing blood donors are urged to help maintain healthy stocks for patients through the summer.

Health experts say the number of people who donate often falls during the warmer months and this year’s World Cup may present even more of a distraction.

Jon Latham, assistant director for donor services and marketing at NHS Blood and Transplant, said: ‘We want to remind everybody that the need for blood will continue – even when their attention turns to the beautiful game.’

Donors can give blood at Pompey’s Victory Lounge on Thursday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm and again from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

Sessions are being held the next day at Cosham Community Centre from 1.30pm to 3.25pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

Then on Tuesday, June 10, people can donate at Waterlooville Community Centre from 11am to 1.30pm and from 3pm to 5.30pm.

Gosport’s Thorngate Halls will be open to donors at 1.30pm on June 12.
